How Expo2020 is contributing to the growth of the UAE’s tourism industry

In November 2013, Dubai has successfully won the bidding to host the World Expo 2020. It is the first World Expo to take place in the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia region in the 168-year history of the said event. Therefore, the event is expected to attract over 25 million visitors in the country between the months of October 2020 and April 2021, with around 70% being international tourists. In line with this, the event is expected to boost the different industries in the country, most especially the tourism industry, which will surely result in more exciting things to do in Dubai.
Given the strong marketing impact of the World Expo held in Shanghai in the year 2010, the event in Dubai promises to outperform Chinese tourism results and expected to impact the entire GCC’s infrastructure and tourism and industry. Furthermore, the neighboring Emirates are also expected to participate in the event. Thus, private investors and the government are aiming to develop tourism opportunities in all seven Emirates in the country. This all comes hand in hand with the government’s investment drive to boost the tourism industry in the UAE.
Moreover, mall operators, including the best malls in Dubai are taking a step ahead with ambitious expansion projects, aiming to maximize malls visitors when Dubai hosts the World Expo 2020.
Mercato Mall, the leading community shopping center in the Emirate, is determined to capitalize the spike in entertainment and shopping demand that should coincide with the Expo 2020.
What to see in Dubai During the Expo 2020?
It is said that this major event will bring together a physical manifestation of the main theme of the Expo, which is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. In April 2017, the public was given the chance to have a glance at Al Wasl Plaza. The big dome is set to double up as 360-degree screen at night, featuring images to thousands of visitors both inside and outside.
With this being said, the event will feature pavilions inspired to countries from around the world, with around 75 entertainment events hosted every day. The entertainment events include live performances from world-famous artists, fashion shows, cultural experiences from poetry slams and discussions with the world’s top academics. Furthermore, there will also be mindfulness sessions, innovation talks, exciting sports and everything in between.
In line with this, every day during the event, a different country will be featured in a cultural showcase that includes parades, festivities and more. Basically, the World Expo 2020 will be massive.
With the various initiatives on the journey to 2020, the event is already making a significant impact in the Emirate of Dubai, the UAE and beyond.
