At Mercato, we believe every family deserves a shopping experience that is welcoming, comfortable, and stress-free. That’s why, in partnership with the Dubai Autism Center, we have implemented a series of permanent features designed specifically to support individuals on the autism spectrum.
What Makes Mercato Autism-Friendly?
We’ve introduced thoughtful enhancements throughout the mall to make visits easier and more enjoyable for neurodiverse children and their families:
Sensory-Friendly Shopping Hours
From 10 AM – 12 PM quiet periods with reduced music to help create a calm and accommodating atmosphere.
Staff Training
All our staff members have received specialized training to better understand and assist individuals with autism and their families.
Clear Signage for Easy Navigation
Signage throughout the mall highlights high-sensory areas, quiet zone, and reminders for parents to hold children’s hands in busier sections and exits all aimed at making navigation safe and intuitive.
Quiet Zone
Peaceful space is available throughout the mall where individuals with autism can relax and reset if they feel overwhelmed.
Fidget Toys and sensory kit
Available at the Customer Service desk to support comfort, focus, and self-regulation during visits.
